Strategies for Good School Photos

With everyone going back to school, it means it’s almost time for school photographs, one of the days you do your best to make sure children are looking their best. Unfortunately, you can’t go to school and watch over their shoulders to make sure they’re looking beautiful for the camera, so here are some quick tips to follow so you don’t have to stress from afar!

  • Don’t have an elaborate hairstyle. Especially if photos are after recess, a fancy up-do is likely to look somewhat windswept by the time they say cheese.
  • Do wear clothes that fit well. If clothes fit well, they are unlikely to need any last-minute adjustments.
  • Don’t wear large prints or very small prints. These are unlikely to photograph well.
  • Do wear solid colors (other than green-screen lime!) or medium-sized patterns. As in any photo session, these are most likely to photography well.

If you have multiple children getting their photos taken, feel free to be a little extra and have them all dress in your family’s color palette! And remember, if you’re unhappy with your child’s school photos, you can always book a session with me to have photos you’re happy with to send out to your family!
